LOOKING FOR A NEW OPPORTUNITY?  ENJOY A NEW EXCITING CAREER IN A GROWING INDUSTRY!  CANBERRA - AREVA is seeking a Senior Printed Circuit Board Designer in our Engineering Department in Meriden, CT location.  
  
Perform a variety of complex, technical design tasks (e.g., design/layout of PC boards, mechanical layout drawings, etc.) using various CAD packages. 
 
The Senior PCB Designer will be required to enter schematic information, create symbols and footprints, provide assistance to project engineer, component engineer and electrical hardware engineers and may take leadership role on an assigned PCB related project by guiding other PCB designers. 
 
PCB must be designed for reliability, quality, cost effectiveness as well as for ease of manufacturability and assembly.
  
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE: 
  • Printed circuit board design (analog & digital) - layout and generation of all related documentation, per Canberra and industry standard (IPC) guidelines.
  • Schematic design, modification, editing and finalization.
  • Prepare all PCB documentation for release for prototype and/or production manufacturing.
  • Mechanical drawing generation to support PCB design efforts.
  • SAP Material, BOM, ECR/ECO entry and management
  • Sustaining, revision and support of older board designs in various states
  • Act as mentor for all associate to mid-level printed circuit board designers.
  • Develop procedures/methods/guidelines for printed circuit board designs.
  • Panel design (tactile done & membrane) - renderings and layout.
  • Support as required for ECR/ECO process.
  • Consistently deliver quality PCBs within promised cycle times and on time to schedules, with no internal respin and minimal Engineering Questions from the Fab suppliers.
  • Keep informed on the latest state-of-the art devices, techniques and technical developments and theories associated with the PCB Design discipline.

Qualifications
 
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. 
  • Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Design, or equivalent in experience.  Bachelors Degree preferred, or equivalent in experience.
  • Ten or more years PC Board design experience
  • Ten or more years of Orcad (or Allegro) PC Board design tool, or similar CAD tool
  • Five or more years of AutoCAD experience
  • Expert knowledge of printed circuit board layout and schematic guidelines, drafting standards.
  • Expert knowledge of printed circuit board design (component packaging, board vendor and industry practices, etc.).
  • Expert knowledge of Allegro and Orcad PCB design tools.
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD software.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical drafting, drawing preparation and revision process.
  • Strong knowledge of Gerber editing tools and processes.
  The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
  • Knowledge or experience with SAP software
  • Knowledge of Altium Designer PCB design software
