Journeyman Substation Technicians,  Lineman and Wireman

 

If you have experience as a Substation Wireman while possessing a team-player attitude and you are looking for an opportunity to join with an award winning energy company that has a long tradition of service and a future of innovation---consider the following position in the Pacific Northwest.

 

We are looking for a Journeyman Substation Wireman  who is experienced in substation construction, operation and maintenance.  The right candidates will need to have a working knowledge of substation equipment, apparatus and wiring.  This is a very technical position and we need people who can walk into this position with little training and begin to be a contributor.

 

Brief Scope of work for successful applicants; you will:

-   Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot and repair substation transformers, regulators, circuit switches and breakers, motor-operated/manual switches, bus work, wiring, battery banks and chargers.

-   Operate substation equipment, perform switching, take clearances and install personal protective grounds.

-   Perform testing on substation apparatus such as power factor, transformer turns ratio, megger, ductor, battery load testing, oil sampling, dielectric testing,  and other analytical tests as assigned.

Follow all safety rules and  standards,  work in confined spaces/elevated work areas with boom trucks.

 

Brief list of requirements to be successful: you will need:

A high school diploma, GED or proof of the equivalent.

- Completion of Substation Wireman apprenticeship or equivalent and be proficient in the use of tools/equipment of the trade on energized and de-energized systems.

- Working knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity with 4 years minimum experience.

- Working knowledge of safety regulations and must possess or will possess a First Aid Certification.

- A valid driver's license and possess a valid CDL or the ability to obtain one in 60 days after hire.

 - And must have clean driving and work records.

 

This is a very safety oriented position and will be subject to random DOT drug/alcohol testing; it is also a union position.
