Communications & External Affairs Manager
This is a new position in the BP Oman team and forms part of the BP Oman Leadership Team. The C&EA Manager will be responsible for supporting BP Oman in internal and external communications as well as management of our relationships with communities and key stakeholders.
BP Oman sits in the Middle East and Pakistan Strategic Performance Unit comprising five locations – Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Pakistan, Jordan and Oman.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in relevant subject
- Fluency (both written and oral) in English and Arabic
- 5-10 years experience in similar role
The successful candidate must have a passion for communication and engagement and the energy and enthusiasm to drive change. The role will be busy and demanding and requires a highly professional attitude at all times to ensure high quality delivery whilst taking the time to build solid relationships. The role is very much an ambassador of BP Oman. The individual must possess good influencing and listening skills, adapting their behaviour to suit the audience and be willing to hear, and be flexible to, feedback.
- strong interpersonal and communications skills – must possess the ability to tell a compelling story, build excellent relationships and trust across a wide range of audiences
- ability to understand business and technical issues and draw from these implications for C&EA activity and distil key messages
- listens respectfully to others’ views
- Highly motivated, self starter, with an ability to take personal responsibility, prioritise and meet tight deadlines with limited supervision
- Competency in primary IT skills – Microsoft Office
- A clear understanding of what a successful corporate responsibility programme looks like and how it supports business priorities
- Project management skills and an ability to manage resources (human and financial)
